Requirements and responsibilities
As a volunteer at Makerspace Adelaide, you will need to adhere to the following requirements and responsibilities, as well as agree to be prepared to take on listed tasks, according to your skills and abilities.
Requirements
To become a volunteer at Makerspace Adelaide, you must
- be a member at Makerspace Adelaide (discounted rates will be offered)
- be 16 years or older
- have, or agree to submit to DCS clearance
- undertake inductions as requested
- complete the volunteer forms as required
Tasks
As a volunteer you will be taking on multiple tasks such as:
- Supervising or assisting in the supervision of the space and its patrons during opening hours.
- Safely enacting emergency procedures if any emergencies occur.
- Upkeep of site such as emptying bins, cleaning bathrooms, general room and workshop tidying, etc.
- Handling of payments for goods and services.
- To provide help and guidance to Makerspace Adelaide patrons.
- To provide basic information about Makerspace Adelaide and the site.
- To be on hand for special demonstrations or events that may require the presence of a Volunteer or Makerspace Adelaide patrons.
Other tasks and duties as may be reasonably directed by a supervisor or Makerspace Adelaide Operations Team.
As a Volunteer you agree:
- To operate under the direction of your supervisor or Makerspace Adelaide Operations Team and to obey reasonable directions and instructions.
- To immediately notify your supervisor or Makerspace Adelaide Operations Team of any hazardous situations that pose a risk and report any accidents, incidents or near misses.
- To behave appropriately and courteously at all times. Makerspace Adelaide reserves the right to ask you to leave the premises in the event of any inappropriate or dangerous behaviour.
- To take all due care for your personal safety and the safety of others.
- To follow Makerspace Adelaide’s policies and procedures in respect to work health and safety when on site.
- To work in a diligent, timely and professional manner to the best of your ability for the whole of the shift you signed up to. In the event that you are unable to undertake or complete your shift you will alert your supervisor or Makerspace Adelaide Operations Team as soon as possible.
- To direct ALL media enquiries to the Makerspace Adelaide Operations Team.
