Communication within the space
As the makerspace is an organisation with a lot of moving parts and various projects, it is important to communicate with your fellow members and volunteers. Below is a list of the communication guidelines we try and stick to to help things run smoothly. Please note that all major site modifications or projects must have approval first from operations team!
- When changing an existing site project or infrastructure, it's important to consult any other people who may have been working on the project before you. They may have information about that project which you don't.
- When changing any site projects or infrastructure, make sure you communicate with the community via the appropriate slack channels or by obtaining a Project Parking Permit.
- If you are having issues with something happening within the space or with a member of community, please talk to someone about it.
- Asking questions is always helpful to all. If you need to know something, ask others in the community.
Organisational Communication
As all organisations, Makerspace Adelaide has multiple roles, meaning there are certain people who you should communicate directly with regarding certain works, projects, etc. Below is a list of who you should communicate to about specific things which fall under their perview.
- Operations Team Members: All items related to the operations of the site. These people are usually the deciding factor of site modifications as well as dealing with policies, documentation, operation of site.
- Site Manager: All items related to site equipment, maintenance, site infrastructure, inductions.
- Volunteer Co-Ordinator: All items related to rosters, volunteer personnel, volunteer inductions, volunteer procedures and documentation.
